Our Home

Close enough to the village, yet far enough from the noise and daily routines for your tranquility.

“La Loma” was the original name given to this estate by the late James A Umbarger, husband of Antonia Rodriguez (your host).  This breathtaking  paradise was our family home upon its completion in 1970.  It was the first home made from brick with electricity and spring fed running water which we still use today.  Later, the name  was changed to Casa Milagros by someone renting the home for a period of time.  After he moved out of the estate, the family decided to open a vacation rental for those interested in a true getaway.   The family decided to change the name back to its original name La Loma (The Hill) in honor of their father, welcoming travelers from around the world.

To  escape from ordinary tourism you  will take a water taxi from Puerto Vallarta, delivering you an hour later into the arms of Yelapa. Once you set foot on the village pier, the graciousness of La Loma welcomes you from its prominent perch to the west. A short stroll through the village will lead you to our charming 180 cobbled stairs, which zigzag through a lush bounty of tropical plants  and tree life right up to our doorstep.

The house is a 10-minute walk from Yelapa's village center on a high peninsula.  From La Loma you can gaze upon  a vast ocean, the quaint cove and village of Yelapa.  Also, on a very clear day you can see Puerto Vallarta in the distance.  There is a small beach for swimming/snorkeling/fishing, unfrequented by tourist traffic located just below La Loma.  The main beach and river mouth is a 20-minute walk away.
